My Story
Hello to whoever is reading this! My name is Kandyce and I am an alumni of Bowling Green State University with a B.A. in Media Production. What I enjoy the most is live, "in the moment" types of production whether it be the news, concerts, or sports.
While at school, I had the opportunity to direct my own newscast, create video and audio promos, make short films, and be a production assistant with the WBGU-PBS Television Station.
Since graduation, I have been experimenting with different styles of photography and videography. I find it important for myself to know how to capture just about anything. You never know what you will come across and I want to be prepared if I am ever in that situation. It also helps to know how things work from different perspectives so that when I am creating I can keep things in mind.
The first thing out of college I got to take part in was the Florence Yalls baseball team. Being a video production intern for a baseball team was an amazing opportunity since it was a sport I didn't get to try while in school. Examples of things I was responsible for were setting up cameras, running cables, updating the team roster graphics for the big boards, live cam for promotions and games, and pre-game show recordings. Outside of my general duties, I had the freedom to create videos to promote themed games such as Star Wars or dog night and take pictures from the dugout.
At my current job WLWT News 5, I have made my way around different departments in my free time to learn more about the industry. This has lead to being able to watch the filming of commercials with the creative service department, as well as shadowing the photogs to see how it all works when out of the building is super cool. I am thankful for my team helping me make connections and allowing to have these learning opportunities.
